Privacy Policy

MakeMyDate (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we collect

When you join our waitlist we collect your name, email address, city, your stated interest (host, venue, attendee, or curious), and any optional message you provide. We may also collect basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited via standard server logs.

2. Why we collect it

We use your information to contact you about MakeMyDate events, confirm your interest, match hosts with venues, and improve our service. We will only use your information for the purpose you provided it, or a related purpose you would reasonably expect.

3. How we store it

Your data is stored in secure cloud infrastructure hosted by third-party providers (including Neon for our database and Firebase for application hosting). Some of these providers may store data outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers who help us operate MakeMyDate (for example, email delivery providers), and with event hosts or venues if you have specifically indicated interest in connecting with them. We may also disclose information where required by Australian law.

5. Your rights

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or request that we delete it. To make a request, email hello@makemydate.app. If you believe we have mishandled your information, you may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

6. Cookies

Our site may use essential cookies to support site functionality. We do not currently use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. If this changes, we will update this policy.

Terms of Use

By accessing or using MakeMyDate you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. About MakeMyDate

MakeMyDate is an Australian early-stage service connecting event hosts, venues, and attendees for Date My Mate pub events. The site is currently a waitlist and information page.

2. Your submissions

You warrant that any information you submit is accurate and that you have the right to share it. You must not submit content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or infringes the rights of others. We may remove submissions and decline future service at our discretion.

3. No guarantees

MakeMyDate is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, specific event outcomes, or matches with other users, hosts, or venues. Any live events you attend are at your own risk and subject to the organiser’s terms.

4. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MakeMyDate excludes all warranties and limits its liability to the re-supply of services or the cost of having them re-supplied. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

5. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.

6. Changes

We may update these terms or our privacy policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent changes. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.
